Hello! We are Herb, Michelle, and Levi!
We are a hopeful adoptive family from Lancaster, PA.
Thanks for taking a moment to look at our profile.
If you are reading this as an expectant mother or father, we
can’t even imagine the decisions weighing on your heart. Please know we
are praying for peace and comfort for you in the choices that you must
make. You have come so far already, and you are extremely brave and
incredible!
On our journey to become parents, we have seen God open and
close many doors. Beyond a doubt, we believe that expanding our family is
part of God’s plan for our lives, and we can’t wait to share our overflowing
and unconditional love with another baby. Hopefully the following gives
you a glimpse into our lives.
The short version of this Boy Meets Girl Story involves boy
surprising doctors after a grave diagnosis, growing up into a band geek and
meeting girl, another band geek. He was
wearing a snare drum, she was slinging a sousaphone. They shared friendship, then love, and then,
in a surprise twist, a kidney. Soon
after, they exchanged vows and began their “happily ever after.”
Happily ever after for us includes a living in an old brick town
home on a tree lined street with wide side walks in a community where we can
walk pretty much anywhere. Happily ever
after also includes each of us working in the music industry – Herb is a
worship leader, a manager at an audio/ video/ lighting company, and a radio DJ. Michelle teaches piano, guitar, and clarinet
lessons at a creative arts studio and helps Herb at church. Some people use the term “band geek” as an
insult; we wear it like a badge of honor.
We have been playing worship music together for over 12 years and really
enjoy sharing that part of our lives.
In his down time, Herb enjoys reading about theology and going
to sporting events. He is a fan of
Baltimore and Washington sports teams.
Another surprise twist from a self-proclaimed band geek, right? On the other hand, Michelle enjoys not going
to sporting events, but rather finding the best bargain (hello, retail
therapy), sewing, painting, crafting, or “pinteresting.” Date nights for us usually include
uninterrupted dinner at a restaurant, followed by walking around town or
Netflix.
Speaking of interruption - our happily ever after also includes
the adoption of our son, Levi. He is the
apple of our eye – our hope fulfilled.
He came in to our lives at 7 weeks old, and he is now five. He is so extremely excited to be a big
brother. He is intelligent, helpful,
caring, kind, and sensitive. He loves
playing with cars, riding bike, superheroes, and wrestling. He is fascinated about his own adoption
story, often asking us to retell ever wonderful detail, and we are grateful
that he is beginning to understand the amazing thing that is open adoption.
We are also so thankful for Levi’s birth family and their
willingness to continue to be involved in our lives. Levi served as ring bearer in his birth
mother’s wedding and we love celebrating big events with them and also just
spending regular days together. Open
adoption has been redemptive in their lives, as well as ours, and we are beyond
excited at the thought of having another family (maybe yours?) with whom to
share our love.
