Chapter 1: In the Beginning

A miracle occurred on a cold Pennsylvania day in January 1981.  A little boy was born with a birth defect so grave he was not expected to live through the night.  He survived, and continued to inspire doctors and his family with his zeal for life.   In the summer of 1984, little Herbie amazed even the medical community when he became one of the youngest patients to ever receive a successful kidney transplant.   

That very same summer, in sunny Florida, a healthy baby girl was born.  The nurses commented on her long fingers, saying, “This little girl is going to be a piano player!”  

One miraculous survival, one humble beginning, and a God who knew how Herb and Michelle’s lives would one day intersect and eventually unite.
