Chapter 4: Happily Ever After

Following the whirlwind of surgery, graduation, and their wedding, Herb began working in the sound, lighting, and video industry.  He continued working with high school marching bands and was a part-time radio DJ and although he enjoyed his jobs, he prayed to be involved in ministry as a worship leader.

Michelle began teaching music.  She was thrilled with her job; she knew it was hands-down the
best job in the world.  She loved the enthusiasm of her students.  Beyond the sound of melodies coming from the piano and guitar, Michelle loved to bargain hunt, have long conversations over coffee, blog, sew, decorate cakes, and work on projects around the house.

They did “grown-up” things – bought a house, planned vacations, and started clipping coupons.  They spent lots of time with friends and family, and continued to enjoy music.  They treasured the simple moments most, like curling up to watch The Office together.

Through their first eight years of marriage, one theme continued to surface.  They learned over and over again about the sovereignty of God.  From health challenges to mastering finances, purchasing a home, transitioning through job changes, losing Herb's dad to cancer, and working through infertility issues, they learned that God ALWAYS had their back. He provided what they needed, just when they needed it, and never let them down.  Though they had been Christians their whole lives, this concept became the cornerstone of their faith.
