Chapter 5: Heart's Cry and Lullabies

After two years of marriage, baby itch began.  Michelle dreamed about singing lullabies rather than “do-re-mi.”  Herb started to realize he would rather pursue parenthood than being a rock star or a band director.

They knew God had more miracles in store for their lives, despite the infertility that lurked.  God had placed a desire in Michelle’s heart for adoption even at a young age.  During those same years, Herb was dealing with his own medical issues and the concept of never being able to biologically father children.

In 2009, Michelle and Herb began the adoption process and prayed fervently for the next member of their family.  With more than 65 first cousins, 6 siblings/spouses, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, and a handful of parents between the two of them, they knew their large families would have open arms to any child.  There was a great deal of unconditional love to be shared in their families.  They were also amazingly blessed by a close circle of friends and a loving church community.

While there had never been an adoption in either family or their circle of friends, there had also never been a more supportive and excited group of people, prepared to welcome a child through the incredible blessing of adoption.
