Chapter 2: Boy Meets Girl

As children, Herb and Michelle acquired a love for all things musical.  They each played numerous instruments, studied classical music, and secretly dreamed of becoming rock stars.  Their love of music led Herb and Michelle to the same university, where they found themselves sharing the same major, classes, dining hall meals, and marching in band together.  Herb, who was 21, and Michelle, who was 18, were very close friends their first year of college.  They studied together and enjoyed worshipping on the same team in church.  They cared for each other so much that they were always trying to fix each other up on dates.

One night, Michelle said to Herb, “Don’t take this the wrong way, but you are just the kind of guy I should marry!”  Frustrated, Herb replied, “That’s just great, everyone wants to marry me, but no one wants to date me!” Surprising herself, Michelle nonchalantly replied, “I never said I wouldn’t date you.”

And the rest was history.

(Well almost, it wasn’t quite that easy.  There was an awkward pause, a few days of confusing conversations, and a late night at Denny’s before it was really history.)
